Hyndman, PA – Edgar J. Shaffer, 96, of Hyndman passed away November 18, 2021 at his home.

Born July 7, 1925; in Hyndman; he was a son of the late Ira Zane and Ruth May (McGregor) Shaffer.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Shaffer; a brother, Paul Shaffer, sisters, Marie Leister, Reginia McGregor, and Mabel Baker; a son, Stanley Shaffer; a granddaughter, Carol Lafferty.

Survived by sons, Lawrence Shaffer and wife Laura, Stuart Shaffer and wife Judy, daughter-in-law, Beverly Shaffer; grandchildren, Ruth Deneen and husband Steve, Anne Wilburn and husband Denny, Karen Ringler and husband Steve, Craig Shaffer and wife Jessica; Levi Shaffer and Rachelle Pensyl; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He owned and operated Edgar Shaffer Trucking. He built numerous trucks and had some unique inventions over the years. He also helped many local truck drivers get their start. In 1956 he got his first backhoe and dug graves at many of the local cemeteries. He enjoyed going to hymn sings and being with family.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday November 19, 2021 from 6 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday November 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Leister officiating. Viewing one hour prior to the funeral.

Burial at Hyndman Cemetery.
