Saltsburg, PA – Edgar W. Stallings, 98, of Saltsburg; formerly of Hyndman, PA, died peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2015.

Born on May 10, 1917 in Cooks Mills, PA; he was a son of the late Roy C. and Nellie (Welsh) Stallings. He was the oldest of eight children.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Gladys Marie (Logsdon) Stallings, a granddaughter, Carol Joan Stallings; brothers, Robert, Roy, and Leslie Stallings; sisters Sylvia Stallings, Jane Mertens, Betty Iames and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Survived by children: Marsha Stallings Saltsburg, PA; Elizabeth (John) Stock Greencastle, PA; Elliott (Dee) Stallings, Ellerslie, MD; grandchildren, Sarah (Rob) Johnson, Corriganville, MD; Andrew (April) Stock, Portland, OR; Ben Stallings, Solomons, MD; Nick (Casie) Stock, Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Emily and Abbigail Stallings, Hannah and Samuel Johnson and Asher Stock; a sister, Marilyn Kennell and numerous nieces and nephews.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps.  He was elected to the Hyndman Londonderry School Board serving 12 years.  He owned and operated Stallings Garage in Hyndman and retired from there in 1984.  Over the years he served in various capacities at Palo Alto Church and Faith Community Church, both of Hyndman, and Calvary Holiness in Cumberland, MD.  The joy of the Lord animated his life and he was well loved and will be missed by many.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 am with the Rev. Ken Korns, retired pastor of Calvary Bible Church of  Ellerslie, MD, officiating.

Interment will follow in Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery.
