Obituary

Eric Scott Merkel, 51, of Hyndman passed away Saturday March 18, 2023 at his home.
Born March 27, 1971 in Cumberland, he was a son of Darris G. Jr. and Cecelia (Leydig) Merkel.
Eric is survived by his parents Darris “Butch” and Cecelia Merkel; brothers, Dave Merkel and wife Adele, James “Jimmy” Merkel and wife Wendy, Todd Merkel and wife Terri all of Hyndman, Kenny Merkel and wife Carol Sue of Ellerslie, who was like a brother, and George Shore Jr., who was like a son to Eric. Also, four nieces, two nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Eric had worked at Gabes for many years. He was a graduate of Hyndman Highschool and attended Glad Tidings Church. Eric had many friends and didn’t know a stranger. He enjoyed fishing and going to the beach.
A memorial service will Saturday May 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Tri-State Ministry Center, 232 Hyndman Road, Hyndman.
