Mrs. Evelyn (Burkett) Elliott, 83, from the Meleware Apartments in Hyndman went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the UPMC Western Maryland Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born May 9, 1939; to the late Ott Burkett and Sarah (Clites) Burkett. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy T. Elliott; sisters, Heilda Hengst, Emma Donahue, Thelma Miller, Dorothy Leydig; brother, Delford Burkett, infant brother, Kenny Burkett.

Evelyn loved the Lord and poured spiritual advice into the lives of everyone she met.  Her goal in life was to serve Jesus.  She was a member of the Central Christian Church on Clarence Street, Hyndman, PA, where her son Terry L. Elliott serves as pastor.  Evelyn loved to sing in the church choir.  She was a professional seamstress and worked many years at different dry cleaners in Everett, Bedford and Hyndman.  She loved to bake and was a professional cake baker.

She is survived by her children, LuAnn Elliott Karper and husband James, of Carlisle, Terry L. Elliott and wife Debbie, of Hyndman, Sarah Jane (Elliott) Mellott and husband Greggory Sr., of Shippensburg.  She has six grandchildren, Kristina Renee Hoagland and partner Scott, Nathan Elliott and wife April, Gregg Mellott II and wife Katrina, Jennifer Wall and husband Ryan, and Aaron Elliott and wife Jessica.  Evelyn also has several great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Helen (Burkett) Robosson, of Hyndman.

Evelyn loved to meet on Friday nights with her friends from the apartment complex for fellowship and food. That in addition to attending Church were the highlight of her week.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday October 11, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 12 p.m.

Officiating the service will be his son Reverend Terry Elliott pastor of Central Christian Church and grandson Reverend Nathan Elliott pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Hyndman.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to   the Church Treasurer Kelly Carnell, 579 Hogback Road, Hyndman, PA 15545  or the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W, Chambersburg, PA 17201 where she got her beloved dog “Missy” whom she loved dearly.
