Cumberland, MD – Frank W. “Smitty” Smith Sr., 91, Valley Rd., Cumberland, MD, passed away Monday March 21, 2022 at his home.

Born February 19, 1931, in Cumberland; he was a son of the late Ira W. and Edith (Lease) Smith. Also preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dot” (Twigg) Smith, brothers, Lester and Ira Smith, sisters, Beulah “Boots” Leady, Thelma Jones; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Smith.

Frank is survived by daughters, Linda Dietz and husband Bill, Edith Clites and husband James all of Hyndman, sons, Frank Smith Jr.  and Glen Smith both of Cumberland; a sister, Helen Hill of Cumberland. His loving grandchildren, David, Chrissy, Tina, Bobbie Sue, Ashlee, Lisa, Misty, and Johna; great grandchildren, Courtney, Austin, Michaela, Cory, Bryce, Kateria, Taylor, Hunter, Arisyn, Rylee, Madisyn, and Braxton, a great-great grandson, Jayce. Also many nieces and nephews.

Frank worked for Kelly Tree Service and Allegany County. He was a lifetime member of Kennell’s Mill Sportsmens Club and a member of the Oldtown VFW. He loved to hunt and enjoyed his ginger brandy by his side and doing word search puzzles.

He’ll be sadly missed by his family. Special thanks to Hospice and granddaughter, Tina.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday March 25, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday March 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Elliott officiating.

Burial will follow at Comps Cemetery, Hyndman.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help defer expenses for the family.
