Helen I. Lehman, 97, of Buffalo Mills, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at the home of her daughter.

Born Feb. 24, 1919, in Hollidaysburg, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Irene M. (Leamer) Johnston.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reuel “Jake” Lehman; a brother, James D. Johnston; and sisters, Mary Alverda Huger and Dorothy C. Calhoun.

Helen is survived by daughter, Lee Ann Miller, and husband Bob of Buffalo Mills; granddaughters: Randa Parsons, and husband M.J. of Cumberland; Jana McCumber, and husband Jason of LaVale; and Krista Brough, and husband Tyler of Bedford, two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Emma McCumber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen had worked from 1950-57 at Westinghouse X-Ray Division in Baltimore. She retired in 1982 from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for the Hyndman office. She had attended First United Methodist Church in Hyndman and most recently was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo Mills.

After the death of her husband, Helen was a resident at Graystone Court in Bedford until 2015 when she moved in with her daughter. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and attending horse shows when her daughter or granddaughters were showing. She was a fantastic cook and baker. She was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

Friends will be received at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7139 Hyndman Rd., Buffalo Mills, on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, from 2 to 3 p.m., where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with The Rev. Ryan K. Viands officiating.

Burial will be at Hyndman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 63, Buffalo Mills, PA 15534.
