Hyndman, PA – Herman W. Rawlings, 89, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born April 23, 1932, in Cumberland; he was a son of the late Herman and Margaret (Bruck) Rawlings. He was also preceded in death by sister, Janet Bittner.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, LaVerne (Imler) Rawlings, whom he married, July 13, 1957; son, Herman Rawlings Jr. and wife Kimberly of Chincoteague, VA; daughter, Kitty Shaw of Hyndman; grandchildren, Holly Kienhofer and husband Brendon, Shannon Taylor and husband Tom, Danielle Shaw, Kimberly Shaw and Traise Rawlings and wife Kay; great grandchildren, Eli and Addison Shaw, Ashlynn Kienhofer, Hannah Shaffer; brothers, Robert R. Devore, Telford and Cloyd Hyatt; sisters, Vivian Shroyer, Yvonne Morris, and Sheila Zerr.

Herman worked for the Railroad for 44 years. He was General Foreman in the Materials Department. He served in the US Army during Korea and was a member of the Oscar Jordan Post 7375 VFW, and life member of the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Department. Herman enjoyed amateur radio and was a member of the Mountain Amateur Radio Club and NARVE. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Thursday March 31, 2022 from 10a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. where a funeral will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dave Klink and Father Scott Lill officiating.

Burial will be private at Hyndman Cemetery.

The family would like to thank hospice nurses Carolyn and Sherrie and caregivers Mary Margaret and Kitty.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made Grace United Methodist Church.
