Hyndman, PA – Homer M. Lafferty, 86, of Hyndman, went to be with the Lord Monday July 15, 2019 at Siemons Lakeview Manor, Somerset.

Born December 9, 1932, in Madley Hollow, Buffalo Mills, PA; he was a son of the late Lester and Veda (Miller) Lafferty. He was also preceded in death by his wife, whom he married February 23, 1957, Roxann M. (Willison) Lafferty in 2012. At the time of her passing they were married 55 years. Also preceded in death by infant twin brothers Ed and Edgar Lafferty, brothers, Melvin, Joe and Fred Lafferty and a sister, Marcelle Dietz.

Survived by a son, Michael Lafferty and wife Diana of Hyndman; a granddaughter, Amber Fetter and husband Staff Sgt. Japheth Fetter, of Clarksville, TN; sister, Dorothy Keller of Bedford and many nieces and nephews.

Homer graduated from Schellsburg Napier School class of 1951. He was drafted into the US Army shortly out of high school and served in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Homer worked at Kelly Springfield Tire for 30 years until it closed in 1987, then at Hedstrom Corporation, STC Trucking and the Golden Rule Lumber. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, a 50-year member of the Hyndman Londonderry Lion’s Club where he was honored with the Melvin Jones award and the Hyndman VFW Oscar Jordan Post 7375. He enjoyed hunting mushroom and ginseng and was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Lion’s Club service at 8 pm and a VFW service at 8:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastors Fred Zickefoose and Dave Klink officiating.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery, Hyndman with military honors by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hyndman Londonderry Lion’s Club c/o Bob Lehman, 7345 Hyndman Rd., Buffalo Mills, PA 15534.
