Hyndman, PA – Ivan L. Burkett, 66, of Hyndman passed away Friday June 2, 2017 at UPMC Altoona

Born October 20, 1950 in Hyndman, PA; he was a son of the late Fuller and Mary (Leydig) Burkett. He was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Burkett.

Survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruth (Taylor) Burkett whom he married April 28, 1978; children, Karen Morris and husband Hugh of Orange, VA; Ruthie Taylor and fiancé Wayne Crowe of Frostburg, Andy Burkett and wife Melissa of Hyndman, Jennifer Burkett and fiancé Matt Brick of Hyndman; a sister Nancy Mock and husband Roy of Bedford; brothers-in-law, Donald Taylor, who was also his best friend, and wife Kim, James Taylor and wife Joy all of Cumberland, sister-in-law, Becca Lewis and husband Frank of Moorefield, WV; grandchildren, Jesse Gwinn and wife Emily, Hughy and Faith Morris, Alyvia and Ashlyn Crowe, Taylor and Payton Burkett, Jacob, Madison and Isaac Walter; great grandchildren Jase and Juliette Gwinn; many nieces and nephews, and furry friends including Oliver.

Ivan was a fork truck driver at Standard Register, JLG and Kennametal. He also owned and operated Burkett’s Heating and Air. He also had a carpentry and woodwork business, Burkett’s Woodcraft. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
