Hyndman, PA – James Vernon Thomas, 85, of Hyndman passed away November 25, 2016 at Country House, Cumberland.

Born October 14, 1931, in Hyndman; he was a son of the Harold E. and Verna M. (Shaffer) Thomas.  Also preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor R. (Brown) Thomas; and a sister, Margie Shaffer.

Survived by sisters, Carolyn Burkhart of Perryville, OH, Sandra Crump of Corriganville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was an engineer at the B&O Railroad. He retired from CSX Railroad after many years of service. He was a member of the Civil War Roundtable and Retired Railroad Employees Group.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday Nov. 27, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Fred Zickenfoose officiating

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery.
