Ellerslie, MD – Janet L. O’Neal, 83, of Ellerslie, MD passed away peacefully Friday February 16. 2024 at UPMC Western Maryland surrounded by her children.

Born July 1, 1940 in Ellerslie; a daughter of the late Harry and Alverda (Thomas) Waltman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John “Bill” O’Neal, siblings, Richard and James Waltman, Katherine Martin, William Waltman, Betty Stahlman, Robert Waltman, Shirley Sturtz, Laverda Lowery, and Joyce Churchey; son-in-law, Gary Leydig.

Survived by children, Barbara Leydig, Vincent O’Neal both of Hyndman, Eric O’Neal and wife Steph of Cumberland, and William “Billy” O’Neal and wife Kelly of Corriganville; sister, Mary Ann Deneen of Hyndman; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson; also many nieces and nephews.

Janet worked in the deli at DeVore’s Market for many years. She loved watching General Hospital, gameshows and sports.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday February 20, 2024 from 6 to 8  p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday February 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Jewell officiating. Viewing one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help defer expenses for the family.
