Hyndman, PA – John Merle Emerick, 84, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Sunday May 22, 2016 at Devlin Manor.

Born July 4, 1931 in Fairhope, PA; he was a son of the late Merle Robert and Goldie Alice (Shroyer) Emerick. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Emerick; and a granddaughter, Angela Emerick.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Grace (Mason) Emerick, whom he married May 3, 1952; children, John Robert Emerick and wife Ramona of Corriganville, Zane Edward Emerick and wife Renee, Sandra Sue Burkett and husband Robert, Deanna Lynn Coughenour and husband Michael; a brother Gerald Emerick and wife Deloris all of Hyndman;  11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was a pump mechanic and machinist at Kelly Springfield Tire. He retired in 1987 after 34 years. He was a founding member of Faith Community Church, The Gideons International, Paw Paw Hunting Club. He also was a Machinist Apprentice at the B&O Railroad. He did a lot of machine work for friends and neighbors.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Faith Community Church, 287 Faith Church Rd., Hyndman on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Campbell officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Cooks Mills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Community Church or Gideons International.
