Hyndman, PA – John P. Getz, 87, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Friday, March 13, 2020 at UPMC Western Maryland Hospital.

Born November 15, 1932, in Wellersburg, PA; he was the son of the late John B. and Viola E. (Kennell) Getz. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Erma Lee (Sturtz) Getz, brothers, Jay and Robert Getz; sister, Mary Louise Diehl, son-in-law, William Miller.

Survived by his wife, Joann (Holt) Crislip Getz; children, John P. Getz and friend Krista Appleby, of Frederick, Meta Jo Miller of Cresaptown, stepchildren, Carl Crislip and wife Nancy of Germantown, MD., Cary Crislip and wife Pam of Pittsburgh, twin sister, Joan Murray and husband Homer of Grantsville, MD; grandchildren, Eric Miller and wife Sarah, Dan Miller and wife Allison, great grandchildren, Luke and Kasey Miller, Madison Miller, Brayden and Taylor Emerick; step grandchildren, Charles Crislip and friend Rachel Levin, Courtney Crislip and friend Garrett Eagan, Chase Crislip and wife Madi, Chance Crislip, Brittany Townsend and husband Rob, Cassandra Crislip and wife Nikki; and a step great grandchildren,  Reagan Crislip, Keira and Tailer Crislip; and several nieces and nephews.

John served in the US Marine Corps. He was a machinist for the Railroad, Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and Kelly Springfield Tire. He retired in 1985. He was a founding member of Calvary Bible Church and a life member of the Genealogical Society of Allegany County, MD and Historical and Genealogical Society of Somerset. He was also a member of Corvair Club of America.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday March 15, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at Calvary Bible Church, 13901 S. Gardner St, Ellerslie on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Greg Miller, Ken Korn and Roger Huffman officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial at Restlawn Memorial Garden, LaVale, MD.
