Ellerslie, MD – John William “Bill” O’Neal, 80, of Ellerslie, MD went to be with the Lord Friday November 15, 2019 at WMHS

Born December 14, 1938 in Cumberland, MD; he was a son of the late Lillian “Sis” Kiser and stepfather Earl L. Emerick Sr.  Also preceded in death by brothers, Gary Emerick, Earl “June” Emerick, brother-in-law, Ron Figard and special grandmother, Barbara Kiser.

Survived by wife of 61 years, Janet (Waltman)O’Neal, whom he married April 5, 1958, sons, Vincent O’Neal of Hyndman, Eric O’Neal and wife Steph of Cumberland, and William “Billy” O’Neal and wife Kelly of Corriganville; a daughter, Barbara Leydig and husband Gary of Hyndman; a brother,  Ron Emerick and Brenda, sisters, Gloria Jean Leydig and husband Fay and Linda Figard and special friend Dennis, sister-in-law, Eileen Emerick all of Hyndman; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Bill was an equipment operator at Black Diamond Energy. He was a life member of Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club and an avid NASCAR fan and former dirt track race driver. He loved the Washington Redskins and Nationals. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday 2 p.m.  with Rev. Rebecca Vardinam officiating

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery
