Obituary

Hyndman, PA – Judith W. Merkel, 66, of Hyndman passed away Thursday December 16, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside.

Born March 6, 1955 in Hyndman, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Ranker and Phyllis (Clites) Ranker Messenger. Also preceded in death by infant daughter, Heidi, brother, Claire Ranker, sisters, Diane Emmons, and Faith Ranker

Survived by children, Robert Merkel and wife Tracy, Melissa Burkett and husband Andrew all of Hyndman; Jessica Kennell and husband Nathan of Fairhope, Kyle Merkel of Hyndman; grandchildren, Devin, Paige, Taylor, James, Payton, Jorja, and Jerik, longtime boyfriend, Charles Mueller Jr., sisters, Wendyl Fiske and husband Donnie, Karen Carder; brothers, Ryan and Nathan Ranker; and many nieces and nephews.

Judy enjoyed Bingo, crafts and sewing.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. Visitors are asked to wear masks. A gathering will follow at the Kennells Mill Sportsmen’s Club.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help defer expenses.
