Hyndman, PA – Kenneth Mearl Emerick, 86, of Hyndman, went to be with the Lord Saturday December 2, 2017 at Frostburg Village.

Born June 27, 1931 in Hyndman, he was a son of the late Mearl and Virginia (Kennell) Emerick. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Kennard) Emerick in 2014; an infant daughter, Janice Lee Emerick, brother, Ray “Pete” Emerick; a sister, Joan Lowery; and his faithful furry companion, Mindy.

Survived by children, Carolyn Lewis and husband Raymond, Barbara Reed and husband David, both of Hyndman, Susan Lee and husband Robert of Cumberland, David Emerick and wife Donna, Jeffrey Emerick and wife Tammy both of Hyndman, Marsha Johnson and husband Donald of Joint Base Andrews, MD, Ronald Emerick and wife Cheri of Hyndman, a brother Wayne Emerick and wife Loretta of Ridgely, WV; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

He was a 1949 graduate of Hyndman High School. Ken was a life long farmer. He was a carman for CSX Rail Road formerly the B&O. He was the owner/operator of Emerick’s Meats in Hyndman and celebrated 40 years in business this year.

He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Ellerslie, where he very instrumental in the annual Wild Game Dinner. He was a member of the Gideons International, he was a Forest Fire Warden for 60 years; a member of the PA Department of Livestock Dealers Association and the PA Farm Bureau. He played church league softball and enjoyed western hunting trips with his friends.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at Calvary Bible Church, S. Gardner Ave., Ellerslie, MD, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Miller officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery.
