The Family Farm

Lois “Toots” J. (Robinette) Cessna, 88 years old, of Meyersdale, was reunited on May 27, 2024 with the love of her life on what would have been their 69th wedding anniversary.

She was born on July 25, 1935 in Southampton Township, Somerset County at the Cook Farm to the late Charles and Bertha (Long) Robinette. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Cessna; siblings Ronald “Neil”, Charles Jr. (Jesse) and Larry (Phyllis) Robinette.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Julie (Brian) Deist; grandchildren, Seth (Marissa) Deist, Sydney and Samuel Deist; great grandchildren, Nora, Roman and Baby Deist. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her sister Alice Deitz, whom she resided with for 23 years at the family farm.

Lois was a 1953 graduate of Meyersdale High School. She was employed as a secretary for over 40 years at Mt. Savage Refractories until she retired. Toots was an avid bingo player and enjoyed many nights playing at Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department. She also enjoyed gambling, casino trips and shopping. Lois loved her family deeply and enjoyed many family vacations with them. The greatest title she held was being ‘Maw Maw’ to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent many years supporting them at extra curricular activities.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman, on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the family farm, 4670 Glencoe Road, Meyersdale at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries, officiating. Burial will follow at Fink Cemetery, Southampton Township.
