Obituary

Williamsport, MD – Marie E. Burkett, 89, formerly of Ellerslie, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Homewood at Williamsport.
Born September 8, 1926, in Altoona, PA; she was a daughter of the late Morton and Ruth W. (Long) Myers. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hillegass; and a brother, George Myers.
Survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank P. Burkett, whom she married September 27, 1946; sons, Dale Burkett and wife Barbara of Ashburn, VA, Edward Burkett and wife Debra of Gaithersburg, MD; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Burkett was a former member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Ager Road United Methodist Church, Hyattsville, MD. She worked for the Prince George’s Department of Education and also at Sears Department Store.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sandy Burchell officiating.
Burial will follow at Porters Cemetery, Hyndman.
