Mary Ann Topper, 79, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2019, at Pennknoll Village.

Born June 17, 1940, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Dr. John A. Topper and Mary (Barnes) Topper.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick M. Topper.

She is survived by a brother, John A. Topper, Jr., and wife Ruth; sister-in-law Melanie Topper; a niece Stephanie Donaldson and husband Svin; nephews John A. Topper III; Joby M. Topper and wife Leana; Jesse W. Topper and wife Christy; and Seth M. Topper and wife Karen; grand-nieces Caley Topper, Claire Topper, Ava Topper, and Katie Donaldson; and grand-nephews Caden Donaldson, Joshua Topper, Cole Topper and Jonah Topper.

Mary Ann graduated from Bucknell University in 1962 with a B.A. in Music.  She earned a master’s degree in vocal performance and music literature from the University of Michigan and did postgraduate work at the University of Southern California.

She enjoyed a lifelong career in music.  She was a music professor at the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha and later a high school music teacher in Boston.  In the late 1970s, she left teaching and turned her attention to music management.  She founded The Jazz Tree in New York City and managed some of the top jazz artists in the world.

There will be no viewing.

A memorial service will be held Sunday November 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church; 183 First Ave, Hyndman.
