Hyndman, PA – Melvin L. Korns, 90, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Sunday April 24, 2016 at the home of his daughter Lorna in Hazle Township, PA.

Born April 8, 1926 in Southampton Township; a son of the late Allen L. and Gladys (Bittner) Korns. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Luther Korns, Alvin Lee Korns; infant sisters, Ella and Annalee; and a grandson, Shawn Farley.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, Dolores G. (Shaffer) Korns, whom he married December 17, 1948; children, Warren Korns and wife Darla of Meyersdale, Deena Rice and husband Allen of Cumberland, Lorna Hart and husband Bruce of Hazle Township, Annette Knotts and husband Don of Hyndman; seven grandchildren, Gale, Kevin, Renee, Megan, Glen, Sarah, and Jason; great grandchildren, Aidan, Easton, Gavin, Noah and Carmen; a sister, Estalene Dietle of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Korns was a dairy farmer and maple syrup producer. He was two time Maple King in the Meyersdale Festival. He drove school bus for over 40 years for Meyersdale. He was a faithful and lifelong member of Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church in Wellersburg. Melvin loved to travel.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 am with Pastor Ken Haines officiating

Burial will follow at Cooks Cemetery, Hyndman.
