Hyndman, PA – Newton H. Huffman Jr., 73, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Wednesday December 15, 2021 at WVU Ruby Memorial.

Born August 1, 1948 in Hyndman; he was a son of the late Wilda C. Leydig and Newton H. Huffman Sr. He is preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Leydig.

Survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly (Burkett) Huffman, whom he married August 14, 1970; sons, Scot Huffman and wife Susan, Michael Huffman Sr and wife Teresa, a daughter, Amanda Dawson and husband Seth all of Hyndman; grandchildren, Carie Huffman and fiancé Matthew Rumphrey, Britney Hartman and husband David Jacksonville, NC, Michael Huffman Jr. and Tristan Huffman all of Hyndman; sisters, Sue Claar of Claysburg, Phyllis Cogan of Manns Choice, Cecelia Merkel and husband Darris, Pearl Kajawa both of Hyndman; close family friend, Donald Shroyer of Hyndman; many nieces and nephews.

Newt served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was the owner operator of Huffman’s Garage since 1983. He also drove truck and school bus. For 15 years he was an EMT for the Hyndman Rescue Squad. He served as 2-time Mayor of Hyndman, as well as president of the Sewer Authority and a Hyndman Boro Council member. Newt was a dedicated member of Tri-State Ministry Center.

Friends will be received at the Tri-State Ministry Center, 232 Hyndman Road, Hyndman on Monday December 20, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Tri-State Ministry Center on Tuesday December 21, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Stevie Leydig officiating. Viewing one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Hyndman Cemetery with Military Honors by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made the Tri-State Ministry Center.
