Obituary

Polana DeVore, 92, formerly of Ellerslie, Md, died peacefully in her sleep at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cumberland on December 21, 2023, where she had resided for the past six and a half years.

Born Nov. 11, 1931 in Moorefield, WV, she was the daughter of Howard and Lillian (Smith) Runions. Also preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. DeVore, whom she married on October 26, 1956. Brothers Wayne (Bud) Runions, Eugene (Gene) Runions, Victor Runions. Sisters, Genevieve (Duck) Reinhold, Mary (Skeet) Sherman, Helena Runions, and an infant sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel H. DeVore, and daughter Mary P. (DeVore) Robertson.

She is survived by a son, Russell D. (Rusty) DeVore and wife Annette of Hyndman, four grandchildren, Emily A. Dennis (Daniel), Cumberland, Andrew L. Gardelle (Misty), Kalispell, MT, Nicole Gardelle, Hyndman, and Jesse A. Litten, Cumberland, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Moorefield High School and was a homemaker for her entire married life.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Ziegler funeral home, Inc. 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 from 7 to 9 pm.

A funeral service will be conducted at Calvary Bible Church, 13901 S Gardner St., Ellerslie, on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11am. Friends will be welcomed at the church, one hour prior.

Burial will follow at Porter Cemetery.
