Hyndman, PA – Robert A. “Bob” Burkett, 64, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at UPMC Altoona.
Born August 27, 1955 in Hyndman; he was a son of the late Walter and Gladys (Ringler) Burkett. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Harr.
Survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra (Emerick) Burkett, whom he married October 12, 1975; sons, Jason Burkett of LaVale, Jared Burkett and wife Sara of Wellersburg, Joshua Burkett and wife Pamela of Westernport; a daughter, Jessica Hattenfield and husband Zachary of Cumberland; grandchildren, Karlee Burkett, Ava, Adeline and Audrey Burkett, Lucas Burkett, Norah and Layla Hattenfield; sisters, Evelyn Shaffer of Hyndman, Maxine Gardner of Vienna, VA, Nancy Klein of Corriganville; brother, Gene Burkett of Mount Dora, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a 1973 graduate of Hyndman High School. He was a lifelong butcher and meat cutter working at Burkett’s Custom Meats for 20 years, Giant Eagle and Wayne’s Meat Market. He also was a delivery driver for Bedford Valley Petroleum. Bob enjoyed visiting with friends and coworkers and was known for sharing meat with friends and family.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday March 13, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St., Cumberland, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Hattenfield officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Cooks Mills Cemetery, Hyndman
