Manns Choice, PA – Robert Terry Whetstone, 55, passed away October 31, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born Nov. 20, 1958, in Bedford, PA; he was a son of Terry O. Whetstone and Lila J. (Hillegass) Whetstone. He is preceded in death by a step-brother, Roger “Squeak” Whetstone Jr; and a step-sister, Mylinda Ent.

Survived by his wife of 32 years, Laura J. (Karns) Whetstone, whom he married February 14, 1982; children, Steven J. Whetstone and wife Mandy, Lela Murin and husband Shane, and Maura Whetstone, all of Manns Choice, parents, Terry and Mary Anne Whetstone of Awendaw, SC; Lila and Roger Whestone of Bedford, four grandchildren, Skeyla and Audréahnna Whetstone, Theran and Olivia Murin; sisters, Shirlene Knopsnyder and husband Wally of Manns Choice, Melony Lynch and husband James of Bedford, Terri Nichole Sawyer and husband Robert of Springville, UT; step-brothers, Joe Whetstone of FL, Mike Whetstone of GA, Tim Whetstone of Bedford, Robert Lingenfelter of NC, a special uncle, Ronald “Tank” Hillegass and wife Vicki, a special nephew, Brian Knopsnyder and wife Amy, and close friend, Barb Hyde and husband James all of Manns Choice.

Mr. Whetstone was a U.S. Army veteran. His first job was a local newspaper route, he was a tour guide at the Coral Caverns, worked at Penn Lines in Scottsdale and the Coach Room in Bedford. He worked at Lowes in Altoona for 20 years where he was a supervisor and most recently at Guy’s Hardware in Manns Choice.

Robert was a member of Gladeland Parish Grace United Church Christ. He was an accomplished craftsmen and woodworker. He enjoyed traveling, working on his home in Delaware and spending time with his family. He could always find the good in everyone.

Friends will be received at the Manns Choice Church of God, 6150 Allegheny Rd, Manns Choice, on Saturday November 8th from 1 to 4 p.m. Where a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Gary Boor and Pastor Cheryl Ward officiating. Military honors by the Ft. Bedford Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Bedford Food Bank.
