Obituary

Russell “Rusty” David Devore, 65, of Hyndman passed away at his home on Saturday June 1, 2024. Rusty was born in Cumberland, MD. on October 1, 1958. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Paul D and Polana (Runions) Devore, brother Sam Devore and sister Mary P. Robertson.

Rusty is survived by his wife, Annette (Hyde) Devore of Hyndman; son Andrew Gardelle and wife Misty of Kalispell, MT; daughter Emily Dennis and husband Dan of Cumberland, MD.; and daughter Nicole (Nikki) Gardelle of Hyndman; grandchildren Trenton Hartmetz, Ian, Claire, and Peyton Gardelle of Kalispell, MT. and Bryce Gardelle of Kingsland, GA.; niece Jessie Bridges-Litten of Cumberland, Md; James Gaumer of Bedford, who was like a brother, and many cousins.

After graduating from Mt. Savage High School, Rusty went on to Allegany College of MD and received his LPN. He was employed by the Frostburg Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospital. Rusty was a volunteer fire fighter with the Ellerslie, Md units. Later in life, Rusty became a tax preparer and worked for several local companies as well as on his own.

An avid hunter, trapper and fisherman, you could find Rusty on his boat in Canada every summer and in the woods during hunting season, always after that big buck or even bigger fish. Rusty was never happier than when he was hunting or fishing. Rusty’s other hobby was his Koi pond and waterfall. Rusty worked every single day on his pond. He spent hours researching how to care for the plants and fish, and often shared his learning with anyone who would listen.

The family will not be having funeral services but will be having a memorial dinner on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Hyndman Grange Hall.
