LaVale, MD – Shirley Ruth (Logsdon) Fichtner, 88, of Lavale, formerly of Hyndman, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday June 2, 2016 at WMHS Medical Center

Born November 11, 1927 in Cumberland; she was a daughter of Mabel (Logsdon) Shroyer. Also preceded in death by a brother, Elmo “Joby” Logsdon; a grandson, Chris Logsdon. She married Harry Fichtner in 1955 and moved to Rockville, MD with her daughter, Sharon. She was employed by Suburban Hospital for 20 years. In 1992 Shirley, Sharon and her grandson Chris, moved to LaVale. Shirley was a member of St George’s Episcopal Church.

Survived by her daughter, Sharon Logsdon of LaVale; a sister, Betty Sheirer of Hyndman; sister-in-law, Geraldine Logsdon of Hyndman; nieces, Linda Steele, Rhonda Walters, Debbie Lafferty, Kim Logsdon, Anita Battista; a nephew, Doug Sheirer; and many cousins.

Shirley had many loving friends and will be dearly missed.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Karen Crosby officiating.

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery.
