Tolva Jean (Shaffer) McCoy of Hyndman, PA., closed her beautiful brown eyes for the last time, here on earth, Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born October 13,1929, Jean was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Tolva (Miller) Shaffer. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 69 years, James William Bill) “McCoy” and son, Donald William McCoy. Also preceded in death by sisters, Irene Dunbar, Philomene Bonner, Mary Shaffer, Winifred Christner, and brothers, Vernon Shaffer, Ray Shaffer; sister-in-law, Marjorie Shroyer

Surviving members of Jean’s family are three of her children and their families. Barbara Fisher and husband Michael, Diann Ryan and husband Gary, Patrick McCoy and wife Joan, and daughter-in-law, Kathy McCoy; grandchildren: Don McCoy, Jebidiah Wiseman (Chanda), Travis Ryan (Regina), Coby McCoy (Anna), Chase Ryan (Brandy) and Riley McCoy; great grandchildren: Sam McCoy, Ashley McCoy, Taylor Ryan, Hailee Ryan, Carter Ryan, Emery McCoy, Morgan and Boone Wiseman; brother, Arden Shaffer, brother and sisters-in-law Robert and Paulette McCoy, John and Dorothy McCoy; many nieces and nephews.

Jean was a member of Cooks Mill United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend to all. Living a very long and good life, she always had a Beautiful smile. Growing up on their family farm, she was never afraid of work and enjoyed many family times. Sharing stories about her much loved high school days with the band, and being a majorette gave her much pleasure. She was an amazing seamstress, and loved designing and making beautiful pieces. Being a home maker and raising her four children along with her husband was her life and priority. She was an awesome, giving, kind person.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday December 19, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Derick Platt Officiating. Viewing one hour prior.

Burial will follow at Cooks Mill Cemetery.

The family would like to thank her doctors, nurses, and aids from Western MD., UPMC Dialysis, and Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation. Thank you to Denise, Britney, T., Beth and all who helped and became great friends. You are So Appreciated.
