Hyndman, PA – Winifred L. “Winnie” Martz, 77, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 22, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 7, 1942, in Hyndman; she was a daughter of the late Winfield C. and Mary Helen (McGregor) Thompson. Also preceded in death by sisters, Althea “Pete” Rowley, Mary Kate Varner, A. Louise Martz, Jean T. Kraivel; brothers, David, Glenn and A. Wayne Thompson and her good friend Violet Shockey.

Survived by her of husband 58 years Paul L. Martz, whom she married September 9, 1961; daughter, Brigette Corley and husband Stanley of Schellsburg, son, Kyle Martz and wife Allyson of Cumberland; grandchildren, Jon Paul Boyle and fiancé Kristen Harclerode of Ft. Ashby, WV, Victoria Bosley and husband Adam of Petersburg, WV, Lydia and Anna Martz of Cumberland; sister, Elaine Logsdon and husband Terry of Hyndman; brother Edward Thompson and wife Lana of Wellersburg; life long friend Carolyn Sue Lehman of Buffalo Mills and many nieces and nephews.

Winnie was a graduate of Hyndman High School. She worked as a salesclerk at G.C. Murphy, Gordon’s Jewelry, Friedman’s Jewelry, and Legacy Jewelers. She was a member of Palo Alto United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed square dancing, family time and vacationing with family. She loved life and enjoyed spending time on the porch swing chatting with friends and family.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Sunday January 26, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday January 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Ken Haines and David Klink officiating. Viewing one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Hilltop Cemetery.
